3:51 am. As a fan, watching the season 1 finale of The Last of Us was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Joel and Ellie’s journey finally leads them to the Fireflies, and their mission to create a cure for Cordyceps is about to be accomplished. But then, Marlene drops a bombshell and says that Ellie will have to die for the cure to be createdSerious answer: That wound should have killed him. When we switched to Ellie for the winter section, I really thought that Joel was dead, b/c that wound looked fatal. Even if Ellie could've quickly gotten him to a hospital with impressive doctors and equipment, it wouldn't have made much of a difference with a wound that bad.
