Any thoughts on this car for a small family of 3 (with a 3 year old) that won't get any bigger. We use the car quite sparingly (the volvo has 15k km after 2 years). We use the car for shopping runs, trips to the mountains (1-2 hour drive) and the odd long drive (500-600km) once a year. Is it worth considering instead of the Yaris Cross?
The same goes if you compare a Aygo to a Yaris, a 1.0 Yaris is about the same on insurance as the Aygo. 1.3 Yaris slightly more, but shouldn't be a significant figure. It sounds like you're looking at these tiny city cars for insurance, but wouldn't mind something larger.
People in this subreddit need to realize it's not 2015 anymore. You can't get a good quality running car for under 5k. Matt Watson from Carwow got a taste of the new GR Yaris. Lots of interesting stuff and massive changes to the car. The engineers gave insight of what and why the changes are made. Also it comes in auto now! I find it interesting that there's lots of love coming from Akio Toyoda to this car. But if youre asking about the brands cars overall they're typical Japanese reliability but, built to a lower price point. Louder, harder plastics, less (good) tech and features. More reliable and cheaper than Hyundai but not quite as well finished when comparing similar models. The Yaris is just a plain reliable car. If you need to go from point A to B, the Yaris is fine. However, it's very slow and boring. The Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, Scion iA, even a Hyundai Accent would be more appealing to me than the Yaris. Toyota Yaris vs Corolla.
